"Passion for Carmen"

The theatrical and musical production is based on the legendary novel by Prosper Merime about love and death.


Live Music, Original Songs, Flamenco Dance, and Novel Fragments - March 12 in Carmichael, CA

A creative team from San Francisco, Chicago, and New York is resurrecting and living on stage the passionate story of gypsy Carmencita and smuggler José.

Show crew:


Damien Álvarez - famous choreographer and dancer, started dancing flamenco at the age of 7, inspired by Carlos Saura's film "Carmen"; He continued his studies with the flamenco legend from San Francisco - Rosa Montoya and the famous dancer and choreographer - Yaelisa, winner of the Emmy award. He developed his own unique flamenco dance picture. Power and accuracy combined in the fresh and expressive style that this amazing dancer is known for.


Cellist and composer Ian Maksin is an artist who sings in dozens of languages and has created his own unique "orchestral" style of playing the cello, triumphantly touring the world.


Actress, professional producer Irina Gruminskaya - presenter, event organizer, founder of Art of Life company.


Alexander Shcherbina is the author of the original idea and songs for the performance "Passion for Carmen": a poet, musician, playwright, member of the Songwriters Guild of America, a leader of poetry and stage workshops.


Host of the event: a brilliant showman Armen Avanesov, a doctor specializing in eye surgery; before immigration - the creative director of Samarkand TV.



After intermission:


A joint concert of outstanding musicians: Alexander Shcherbina (guitar, poetry, vocals) and Yan Maksin (cello, vocals).
