So let's cook sarmale!

Ingredients:

  • 500g ground beef

  • 250g ground chicken

  • 1/2 cup white rice, rinsed

  • 1 tsp sweet paprika

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 30 pickled cabbage leaves

  • 2 tbsp tomato puree

  • 3 cups water

Chef Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground chicken, and finely chopped onion. Mix well.

  2. Add the rinsed white rice, sweet paprika, salt, black pepper, and dried herbs to the mixing bowl. Mix everything together thoroughly.

  3. Take one pickled cabbage leaf and place a tablespoon of the meat mixture on it. Fold the sides in and roll the leaf up tightly. Repeat with the remaining cabbage leaves and meat mixture.

  4. Shred a few pickled cabbage leaves and place them on the bottom of a large pan.

  5. Arrange the rolls around the pan, making sure there are no gaps between them.

  6. Mix the tomato puree with the water and pour it over the rolls, making sure they are completely covered.

  7. Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low to medium heat until the rolls are cooked through.

  8. If you want your cabbage leaves to be extra tender, you can also bake the rolls in the oven for 10-15 minutes after they are cooked.

  9. Serve hot with sour cream and enjoy the delicious flavors of Moldovan cuisine!
